Your courage and determination has been an inspiration to all those who enjoy cycling but who also, like yourself, are prone to occasional bouts of dizziness and confusion, often associated with heavy drinking of fine wines, and consumption of Belgian chocolate. Your ability to complete this gruelling adventure whilst simultaneously battling your frequent attacks of gout, explosive diarrhoea, and the ever-present Chalfonts is nothing short of a miracle.
I don't know if the BBC or Channel 4 have come knocking yet, but I'm sure they will have been following your progress and sensing the birth of a potential new star. Let's face it, Michael Palin cannot go on forever, so you would be a natural to take over as the nation's favourite television traveller, cycling through strange lands, sampling unusual local wines, contracting exotic little-known diseases etc. etc.
Anyway, congratulations from all at The Royal Society, and we eagerly await your presentation on the expedition either by slideshow, or possibly to be televised as part of the BBC's renowned Christmas Lectures. Well played Sir !
Good effort, mate, well done. See you next week.
